Results of summer drink driving campaign

The two week summer crack down on drink and drug driving, which has now come to an end, resulted in 229 motorists reported for drink driving, according to Lothian and Borders Police. This is a fall from last year's total of 238 motorists.

During the campaign, police caught a female driver who was six times over the legal limit, and a lorry driver was caught near Stirling more than three times over the limit.

Near Aberdeen, a woman with only a provisional licence was thought to have been speeding at over 100mph before crashing her vehicle. She was subsequently charged with drink driving, dangerous driving and driving licence offences.
