Police target driving without insurance

A weekend campaign by police to clamp down on people who drive without suitable insurance has resulted in the seizure of 96 vehicles, reports the Scotsman.

All eight of Scotland's police forces took part in the initiative, which was coordinated by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS). Thirty-eight people were also caught for allegedly driving without a suitable or valid licence, resulting in the seizure of a further 20 vehicles.

Speaking to the Scotsman, Assistant Chief Constable Fiona Taylor of ACPOS said:

"Officers throughout Scotland will continue to target these offences on a daily basis and we will work with partners and utilise the latest technology to trace and remove these offenders from our roads.”
