A serving police officer has received a 12 month ban after pleading guilty to a drink driving charge at Norwich Magistrates' Court, reports the Daily Mail.
PC Matthew Stott had apparently drunk two large glasses of wine before driving and then failed to stop for police, who had spotted a defective tail light. When breathalysed he was found to have 44 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres.
As well as the 12 month driving ban the District Judge, Peter Veits, imposed a fine and legal costs amounting to £1,115 in total.
“You must deal with drink driving on a regular basis and you must see the consequences of that,” said the judge. "It was a very unwise decision to drive that night and you exacerbated that by not stopping for the police.”
