Man receives driving ban for speeding offences

A man from London has received a driving ban after being caught driving at 117mph on the M5 in Devon, reports the BBC.

The 48-year-old, who was driving a Ferrari that he had borrowed from an associate, said he wasn’t used to the power of the car, and had failed to “keep an eye on the speed.”

According to the BBC, he already had nine points on his licence for two previous speeding offences and one offence of driving whilst using a mobile phone.

He was given six further points for the latest speeding offence, giving him a total of 15 points. Receiving over twelve points leads to an automatic driving ban, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
