A new partnership has been set up to try to prevent crimes against animals in Fife in Scotland.
Formed between the police and landowners in Fife, the Fife Partnership Against Wildlife Crime has been set up to try to reduce the wildlife criminal offences of, for example, badger baiting, deer poaching and hare coursing. This comes as the numbers of reported animal crimes has increased as much as ten times between 2009 and 2010.
Further concerns exist because of the possession of firearms, such as on the public roads, which may be used for the purpose of hunting animals. Police are now treating such crimes as more of a priority than they would have done previously.
