Police launch rape prevention campaign

The Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) has launched a new campaign across Scotland to highlight recent changes to the law on rape. The campaign also aims to change attitudes to rape and other sexual assaults.

Previous legislation on sexual offences was reformed by the introduction of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, which highlights various situations which are classed as rape, including:

  • Sex when a victim is asleep or unconscious.
  • Sex without consent when someone is too drunk.
  • Male rape.
